i'm not mad though to be honest - not only because when we played it was more likely that spain would end up in the other half but i also think aiming for a worse result in order to get an easier draw is poor sportsmanship. also, if you wanna be champion you have to be able to beat any team anyway...
i would be, however, if i were spanish or english. all they had to do is win their group to avoid this...

well, you know i'm not a friend of this bloated tournament but i really don't think you can blame the mode for this outcome. what it comes down to is really just some of the "big" ones not winning their groups - there are 3 group winners in each half...
so what was expected is that we have france, italy (or belgium) and germany on one side and spain, england and maybe portugal on the other side. sure, we still would have been on the stronger side of the draw but it would not have been that ridiculous...

but again, i think it's kind of exciting and at least half of the early knockout stage will be proper games to watch with lots of potential early finals...
