just leave 'em - don't bother them with actual facts concerning the sport they "love" so much. their version of history is the one thing they have to feel good about themselves. their current insignificance (in football and in general) doesn't seem so bad if you tell yourself that you invented the game (just like they think that imperialism didn't suppress and exploit peoples and ultimately prevented developement but that it brought "advanced civilisation" to the world) - it's probably the same thing they told themselves after being eliminated from their home world cup in rugby in the group stages recenty, ironically by wales and australia...
