Classic case of not being good enough. Young English players getting promoted to the first team when they show tiny signs of quality so they don't get sent to the under 21's euros. Would much rather them play against low-tier teams in qualifying than actual competitive tournament play.

Crazy way to try and make a team imo. And people are surprised when it doesn't work.

Our potential team could of looked like this:

Why the fuck doesn't it?

to be fair, it's like that for most of the nations...

germany for examply also didn't play most of the quality young players that are more or less part of the national team already (götze, draxler, mustafi, rüdiger, durm...)

This team would've been one of the best in the world, let alone a U-21 tournament.

The difference is you guys don't have to send your best kids because you've won the world cup. It would be nice for England to actually try and get our youngsters some tournament experience so they can't use "there wasn't enough experience" as an excuse.

I'm not asking, or expecting, England to win anything. I just wish we actually TRIED to win something.
