Iker also had a great save at the start of the game, but no one talks about that...

and that goal, while I agree that Iker failed, the wall has a share of responsability there aswell

I mean, Iker hasn't been in his top form for a while now, and he should have done better yesterday, but I don't think it's fair to bash him for what happened yesterday... especially when most of the players yesterday had awful performances

Don't even know how I'm supposed to respond to a comment like that...

Valdes won the la liga trophy for conceding the least goals almost year after year because of the dominance his team had in la liga (> 70% ball possession every single game)

iirc Valdes had ~ 150 shots on him while Iker was averaging ~  200 shots but Ikers % of shots saved was always higher than Valdes'. Talking about crap positioning and ball retention... I'm sure there are dozens of youtube videos dedicated to the failures of Valdes... there's a reason for why he's one of the most trolled goalkeepers of all time

Leave it to a barca fan to want  him benched/replaced when he was winning the golden glove / IFFHS GK award...

its so stupid to assume iker had more shots hence a better keeper.

Valdés surpasses Casillas in all relevant areas this season in the league: clean sheets, saves-to-shots ratio, catch-success ratio, error-proneness and distribution.

2011 article.

Try to figure out what saves to shots ratio means.

Quote
Saves to Shots ratio

74%- iker 81%-valdes

Dropped Catches

4-iker 0-valdes

Errors leading to goal

2-iker 0-valdes

great save ? he punched the ball forward which is the most common mistake for keepers.

Any keeper knows he should push it sideways not in front of goal, like any defender should know to pass back only sideways, not risking an own goal.

But meh, deluded madrid fans always cling to their fallen hero, although he has shittier and shittier performances.

fed up with them finding excuses.

"mourinho did this" "karanka did this"
"he was not a starter" "but the wall was wrongly positioned" "but he made a good save and then sucked for 2 goals"

guess what. mourinho was right. karanka aswell. the keeper positions the wall, so fail wall = fail keeper.
He was amateur at both goals.

while i don't care much about madrid and hopefully casillas sinks them as they deserve for sticking with their shitty keeper, i am pissed at del bosque for keeping him in lineup - what the topic is about.

arbeloa at central def =
Koke in xavi place

truth is del bosque deserves to leave probably before casillas.
and undeniable truth is casillas sucks.

I agree , i think del bosque is just pleasing the bigger names. Hopefully de gea will finally get that no1 jersey he deserves

he made the same mistake with xavi, playing him despite having an obvious decline at barca.

main reason barca lost title last season.

then imo treated him unfairly by suddenly dropping him the 2n game at wc while keeping iker.

3-4 months later...still keeping iker.

Valdes deserved to play since 2011 imo, just as de gea deserved to play last night.

Still, del bosque finds new excuses for casillas.

Pretty lame. Hopefully he goes.

Del Bosque always pleases the big names. He did that at Madrid and has been doing the same ever since he took over the national team.

I was hoping that he'd introduce changes since he said himself that he was motivated about leading the upcoming generation of players, but it seems like if Xavi, Villa and Alonso hadn't retired from the national team he'd still be calling them.

in general you have point about casillas not being treated fair enough, but who is responsible for the wall?
the goalkeeper
its not like they moved aside or opened a gap in the wall so.....
100% casillas failure

the wall positioning was okay imo.

shot went straight in gk direction, if iker hadn't moved at all = easy to box it to the mid line.

He dived right although the shot went center.
