It wasn't the be all and end all of the game, he just wanted to taste another top competition before he started te decline, nothing wrong with that

big difference between arsenal wanting henry back back then over man utd wanting the worlds best player now, who has no real love for the club, despite what united fans think.

we wanted henry back when he was far past prime, with ny redbulls, for love for an arsenal legend and record scorer, united want ronaldo back not because they love the man because they want all the best players looking past what they need, if ronaldo was in his mid 30's and playing in america united wouldnt think twice about cristiano. that means they look a bit desperate.

With the cash paid for the banner you could probably have signed a better defender than any of united`s.

Taking a long shot here...united need another 5-10 new players before they can even think about pe...i mean ronaldo.

I admit i would like very much to see ronaldo playing europa league.

Btw, nando torres is asking me how many has falcow banged.

you do realize it's only a few hundred US dollars to have a banner flown over a stadium.

He's repeatedly said how much he still loves United - enought that im sure it ticks off Perez and some fans.

He won everything with Utd under SAF and it got him his dream move to Madrid, why wouldnt he still love the club

I don't think he will retire here. Aside from Zidane, who retired relatively early because he lacked motivation to keep playing football, and Hierro, who was pretty much forced to retire, I can't really think of players that have managed to retire wearing Madrid's shirt in recent times.

The most recent examples I can think of are Sanchís (retired after winning the 8th CL in 2000), and Chendo (who retired in 1998 after winning the 7th), but they were never really world class players, and they played defensive roles and barely got any play time during their last years.

You have to go really far back to see world class players retiring while playing for Madrid (Gento, Puskás, Santamaría, Santillana, Amancio, etc.)

The list of world class players that have ended up leaving Madrid to retire in a smaller club or league is huge: Roberto Carlos, Raúl, Butragueño, Hugo Sánchez, Laudrup, Juanito, Netzer, Cannavaro, Rial... even Di Stefano finished his carreer playing for Espanyol.

The only way I can see Cristiano retiring in the club is if he's willing to decrease his play time and eventualy accept a secondary role in the team... but that really doesn't sound like him, at least right now.

I think he'll retire in the portuguese Liga, ether playing for Sporting or Nacional... the only thing question here though would be if a player with such a competitive personality would be able to find motivation while playing at a lower level.
