1) We both know that Nacho, Kortabarria or Oleguer could max play 1 or 2 games with national squad, Oleguer was the second best right back, behind Belleti LOL.
One of the most nationalist (vasque in this case) is Iribar, he played 49 international matches and he support Herri Batasuna, a politcal party (banned in spanish elections) for their relationship with a terrorist group.
Puyol, Valdés, Xavi or Piqué (even Busquets or Jordi Alba, I guess) have never celebrated a spanish title with a spanish flag, you know it and I know you know it. If you can't win a title with your country, you play for the national team that allow you to win it.
2) Guardiola always said that he feels catalan but he can't play for Catalonia, there are some videos that he talks about it at the same time he plays for Spain. I will post it in the next post:
Oleguer and Nacho were garbage, yes, but you clearly don't know who Kortabarria was if you think he could only play 1 or 2 games max.
He was one of the best spaish CBs at the time. He played a key role in the 80s la Real that won 2 consecutive leagues, played CL semis and established the still standing Liga record of 38 games undefeated.
He was in fact called for the national team. He played 3 games as a starter before saying that he had fully embraced basque nationalism and no longer felt comfortable representing Spain.
And I don't see the point in defending Pep's choice by saying Iribar also did it. That in fact it defends my arguement because that just makes Iribar another sellout. Of course Iribar and others represented Spain while being separatists of their respective region. That's my point: the majority of regional-nationalists that claim they have nothing to do with Spain, suddenly become spanish when they can get prestiege, fame, money, or any other benefit.
