i would not take that away from him, pretty sure he's one of their best players but come on, "legend"?

I guess I thought this was self-explanatory.

Everything is relative. He's a legend here because of what he has accomplished for the team and for the development of American soccer in general. I guess this might be hard to understand if you are not from here.

So I'll start by saying that he was one of the best American soccer players to ever play the game...
