US drops 2 spots despite advancing out of the group of death and taking a team now in the top 5 to ET and almost PK's with that finish?

The system has always been criticized. The ELO rankings are a bit better but FIFA world rankings calculation system has always been flawed. 48 months to rate a team is so bad. Does not show current form. Not a good way to rate a teams current ranking.

spain blows, but i hadn't really thought of it that way

not many sports really do rankings like this, aside from maybe tennis where you accrue points

NFL/MLB/NBA just do weekly power rankings based on what the team is doing presently, not about their body of work
