Too many people insecure about their sexuality, the whole blue is for boys and pink is for girls thing... I thought the 1980s dropped the pink is gay stigma, but obviously not. It depends on the specific article of clothing and shade of pink, but I do have a couple of salmon pink v-neck sweaters/shirt.

Well it might not have caught on in Chile yet but in the civilized world the color pink has been THE gender specific color for females since the 1950s. And it's also THE color associated with gay (and lesbian) activism.
The color itself is obviously not gay if that's really what you thought they said, people just associate it with gays.
