It has been around a month since I last posted something about RCD Mallorca. The reason for this was that there was a lot of uncertainty regarding the club (at all levels: board, manager, players, etc), and I was waiting for things to settle down a bit before I posted something.
Last time I talked about rumours about some friends of Abramovic buying Serra and Cerdà's shates (49+6% of the club). Well the rumours were true, however Cerdà decided to reject the offer in the last minute and form an alliance with Utz Claasen (who holds 45% of the shares). With this seemingly stable alliance, Serra's 49% of the shares are useless, and he has decided to leave the board (although he is still the largest share holder). He says he is still interested in selling his 49%.
I'm glad he has finally left, but I'm not too excited about Cerdà and Classen running the club. The first thing Cerdà has done has been raising his salary... and the second thing he has done has been cutting the club's transfer budget in half.
Now, about the team:
Miquel Angel Nadal, a club legend, the greatest CB we've ever had, the only player born in Mallorca that has won a CL and played 19 seasons in Primera; will be the sports director of the club. He is also Rafa Nadal's uncle btw

The whole squad is getting completely reworked; only 5 or 6 players from last season are expected to continue in the team this season. Nadal has made some interesting signing so far, so the fans are happy with his work for now.
The manager is going to be Miquel Soler. Soler is a "legend" in spanish football. The quotation marks are there because he wasn't an insane player or anything like that (although he did get a few caps for the national team), but because he has achieved some impresive stuff. He played in Primera for 20 years (the last 5 for Mallorca), he played for the biggest 3 teams in Spain (Barça, Madrid and Atlético), he played for a total of 7 clubs in Primera, and he's the 6th player with most games in Primera's history.
However he has only ever managed Mallorca's B team, and he got them relegated from the 3rd to the 4th level. Twice. So, evene though we love him, we are definetely not very excited about him being the new manager. I hope we're wrong about him though and his carreer takes off.
Also, the manager that saved us from relegating last season, club legend Olaizola, will manage Mallorca's B team next season. Pep Alomar the manager of the B team which achieved promotion back to the 3rd level this season, will become Miquel Soler's assistant manager in the first squad.
tl;dr:
Serra Ferrer out and Classen+Cerdà are taking over -> yay, but it could be out of the frying pan and into the fire... let's see how long this alliance lasts
Interesting signings so far and it's nice to see many club legends and icons in the club; but I'm not too happy about the new manager.
