You are so right about that. Wenger could've chosen to use Vermaelen as LB and Koscielny, Mertesacker in the center, just to NOT having to use Santos, eventhough it's not Vermaelens best position.

At the moment kos and per are not the best defensive combo, rather have vermaelen and per as cb's and kos as a lb.
