now please don't get mad at me, i've only watched the match from around the 60th minute and during that time, mexico was the better team. however, from what i've read on my favourite source when it comes to football (kicker.de), russia was the superior team until the 2nd mexico goal and basically lost their dominance and ultimately the match after conceding two rather weird goals, is that true?

I wouldn't be able to give you a honest opinion because I just saw the 2nd half but from what I saw, Russia was pretty dominant in the beginning of the 2nd. After that mistake by the Russian keeper, you could tell the Russians started slowing down. And Mexico started taking control. Then the red card ruined them. But they did have a chance to equalize had that guy headed the ball instead of sending it to the upper deck .

dafuq is this shit? how is that a certain red card from the VAR? he showed a yellow card to the wrong player, which i agree with should have been corrected by the VAR. but then just apply the correct evaluation of the tackle to the right player... terrible decision ofc. a shame they can't seem to get this right because in general i'm very much in favour of a well implemented video replay option to correct clear misjudgements...
