This could be a case of "Be careful what you wish for". The new manager at Arsenal will have the same pressure as Moyes and Van Gaal had at United.

United was a title winning team when moyes took over. Arsenal is mid table. No pressure at all.

The team was good. It was the same team that had won multiple titles + your best player. I honestly don’t think there’s as much pressure on the new arsenal manager. When fergie left, it was like “shit how do we replace he goat?” With arsene leaving, there’s no success to follow, and most of the people hate him now. Next season, anything 6th or higher will be a success. With United, there was nowhere to go but down

And yes, it is sad! Even though it was his time to go and everyone wants him gone, it’s still sad to see it happen. It’s literally the end of long term management in world football. I don’t think there will ever be another saf or wenger

It's still hurts to see him go. He's been here for over 22 years and I'm only 23 years old. I've never knewn another coach so it's reaching in the dark for me atm.

It's going to be so weird seeing someone else in the dugout.

i have somewhat the same feeling as you. But i was a kid when saf with United smashed his punk ass night in night out. after the decline tho, i actually rooted for him. not for him to keep arsenal mediocre but for the way his team play football. so pleasing on the eye.
he also turned down RM during his prime. Says alot about this man's loyalty.

lol no, the next manager will be called a failure if we do not get close to the prem title or any other cup succes. The media has been hyping up the fact that the only thing wrong with Arsenal is Wenger. So now he's leaving everyone will think Arsenal will regain their invincibles succes.

Taking over the manu job was a recipe for disaster, the first coach to take over Arsenal will most likely also be a recipe for disaster.

wonder what / who made him finally acknowledge it's time to go. he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who reflects on the situation and realises he might be hurting the club, which i guess is a hard thing to do considering his genuine love, passion, and commitment which are of course beyond question.

i would bet a significant amount of money that someone applied some serious pressure for him to finally announce this. and although within this forum i might have been one of the earliest people calling for his retirement, it's still kind of sad to see such a legend step down from a purely sentimental point of view...

I see Arsenal fans complaining every day that they aren’t challenging for the league. They were also angry about going out in the last 16 in CL every year. So I don’t agree with your opinions that it’s enough for their new manager to get them CL footie. The fans will obviously accept it the first 1-2 years, but in the long run they want to challenge for the PL title aswell as CL, which fan wouldn’t?

Mr Mill mentioned it above. The media have all been saying that the problem with Arsenal is Wenger, which is not true. Also alot of ”fans” like ArsenalFanTV wants instance success now that Wenger is gone.

The problem today is that everybody wants success NOW. People (Arsenal fans) need to have patience like Liverpool had with Jurgen. Transforming teams takes time.

(I hope all of this made sense. I had my first few glasses of wine on this wonderful friday :) )

What I think is, is that he doesn't listen to critisism or pressure from other people. So I do think he is reflecting on this season which is much worse than any other season we had and he finally sees that he is not up to the current standards of the game anymore.
That being said, I don't think there was much pressure from the board at all, we all knew (and so did he) that he would never be sacked so the decision was purely in his half.

I agree, it's going to take a while for us to regain success, I would have preferred to have it with Wenger but it wasn't meant to be.
I'm just glad this Wengerour bullshit can finally stop now.

Can't stop thinking about how it will be without him, I just can't realize it..

Also I have a small feeling that Emery might become our new coach, really don't want it.

That’s how I felt with fergie lol. It’s like.... he’s more than just the manager. He’s the club.
