Atlético Baleares, Mallorca's traditional rival, has ended up outside the promotion playoffs to Segunda. They had a 7 point lead over the second placed in janurary, which they lost in march, and were again first placed 4 weeks ago... but after getting 4 out of 12 points they've finished the season 5th (3 points away from the first placed, in a very tight table where 6 teams had the chance of winning the league today).
I was hoping they'd promote so we could at least have a Palma derby next year in Segunda, so I'm kind of dissapointed. Then again, their goal this season was a mid table finish, so a 5th place is actually a pretty good result for them.
Palma hasn't had a derby in over 30 years, when both Mallorca and Baleares were in the third level, so the rivalry, which had been pretty big in the island until then, has kind of died (although most Baleares fans still hate us

). A derby in Segunda could have sparked that rivalry again, which would have been neat.
(pls, no comments like "don't worry, you can still have your derby in next year... in the third level!")
Also, the island's third most important team, Constancia, has relegated to the 4th level.... so it has been a pretty shitty weekend for balearic football.
