Was an exciting game. You reckon Solari is going to stay, Zark?
I hope he's at least given the chance. Florentino probably wants someone else, and that usually means there's no chance he won't get what he wants, but the fact it's hard to find a top manager half way through the season definitely plays in Solari's favour. The results have been great and the players seem to be backing him, so he might get the chance after all.
The issue is what will happen when we have a serious game. Solari has faced very weak opponents for the most part. We don't have any truly big games left in 2018 (Roma away and Valencia at home, at most), so it will be hard to judge Solari until next year. It doesn't matter if we destroy Viktoria Plzen, Melilla or Celta if we can't beat Atlético, Sevilla, Barça or Juve. And this is something we have no way of knowing for a long time. Those big games will happen in a few months time, and the team will need stability, confidence and focus... Solari can't be sacked then. It has to be now or once the season is over. The club has to gamble on keeping an unexperienced chap that has made a good first impression, or gamble on going for a reputed manager at the cost of risking the positive dynamic the team seems to be in.
I personally think we should keep him. If it goes well, we will have a successful season after all. If it doesn't go well, it will just be a transition season that will allow us to calmly redesign the team with a new manager in the summer. There's of course the risk of missing out on the top 4 with Barça and Atlético surely making it and Sevilla looking very, very strong, but as long as the season isn't complete disaster, there shouldn't be a need to worry about this.
