well according to transfermarkt he played 3 full games with the reserves against liverpool, chelsea and tottenham.
i also find it strange that if he really refused to play in the reserves, why not play lindegaard in the last game vs. hull instead of valdes?

to me it sounds like a typical van gaal excuse to justify a harsh decision (i'm not even saying it's wrong to let him go or anything, i just think he should be honest about it)...

Like I said, he refused to play the "smaller" games in the reserves.

Valdes is a proven, reliable keeper, any top team in the world would be lucky to have him.

Inbe4 van graal manages to get another mediocre season after spending ?!? half a billion.

Hope he goes PSG and shits on premier league again this term.

and how do you know that? is there any source apart from van gaal's statement?

i mean i'm pretty sure that he wasn't happy to play reserves after all the titles he won with barcelona and i wouldn't be surprised if he communicated that but i also think he's professional enough to know that he has to do certain things to stay in the team and an outright refusal is very hard to imagine and really strange that we now hear about it for the first time...

btw, tottenham finished 9th out of 12 teams so this isn't really a "big" game imo...

i mean i could still be wrong here, i just think it's wrong to just assume van gaal tells the truth when the player himself seems genuinely surprised and shocked about the allegations...

It feels like déjà vu, this same incident happened between Van Gaal and Valdés in Barcelona. Valdés didn't return to Barça's first squad until Anitc was appointed manager.

He wouldn't fit in United anyways, they need to go for a different keeper if De Gea leaves. He also mentioned he played Valdes vs Hull just to be able to sell him.
