Very sad day. Very unexpected news... can't see how this will help the team right now, but if Zidane felt like he wasn't the man for the job anymore, then I guess it's probably for the best. Regardless of this, he has earned the right to decide when he wants to leave without us nagging him.

He may not be the greatest tactician and he's perhaps too stubborn about certain players, but at the end of day he understood the club's culture and also had the ability to inspire his players, just as he did when he was a captain. It's what we needed... someone who was at least decent in tactics and excelled at getting the best out of the players. I was always certain that Florentino would never sack him unless something totally apocalyptic happened, which made me believe and hope we'd have a manager that would last for over 5 years for once... but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Let's see who will take over now. It will be insanely difficult for someone to fill his shoes, the dressing room respected Zizou big time. Can't really think about it right now. Most rumours are centered around Pochettino... he's definitely a competent manager with the ambition to keep progressing, but I'm uncertain about his lack of CL experience (both as a player and manager). I could totally see him being a good fit in 2-3 seasons... but idk about now. The job is demanding af.

I'm also uncertain about what's going to happen with the team itself. New manager, new ideas, new names. There might be some important changes ahead. We'll have to wait and see...

pochettino just signed a new deal mate ^^

Apparently he specifically has a clause that would let him go to Real Madrid.

from 2010

"I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Internazionale or Real Madrid," said Allardyce. "It wouldn't be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the Double or the league every time.
