Mallorca will be playing away against Alavés today.

Alavés is a typical 3rd level team, which in the 90s had a breakthrough and rose all the way to Primera, where hey had only played for one season many decades before. They became a pretty solid team and I'm sure most of you guys remember them reaching the EL final in 2001, where they lost to Liverpool in a spectacular game that finished 5-4. A few year's later a rich ukranian guy called Piterman, who had previously bought and relegated Racing, took over Alavés and ruined it. He was a guy that literaly bought clubs in order to manage them. He'd hire a coach that would do most of the work during the week, but he'd go sit next to him during matches and tell them what to do. He'd even go to the press conferences after the game. The club relegated back to the 3rd level and Piterman was forced to sell due to the fans' pressure. Now they are back in Segunda after promoting last season.
Alavés has one of the lowest budgets in the league. They are sitting in the relegation zone (although only one point away from exiting it), and are one of the main candidates to finish there at the end of the season..
Half a season later they are, unsurpisingly, still in the relegation zone. They are the worst home team, so I hope my boys can finally get a good result (although I don't really expect anything given our current form).
They do have Segunda's top scorer though, Borja Viguera. It's really crazy, they are second to last in the league, but the league's top socrer is in their team.
