Well he also had better team mates and home advantage, but that's a true point nonetheless ^^
But tbh I don't rate Maradona as the GOAT for all the amazing stuff he achieved with Argentina, but for the stuff he did with Napoli. Carrying that mediocre team to two Scudetti in such a competitive league where they had to face that Juve that won all European trophies, Sacchi's Milan, Trappatoni's Inter, and other teams like Roma or Sampdoria that had a better team at the time, etc is amazing, and something that imo puts him above everyone else. I can understand other people preferring someone else, but to me those achievements are unrivaled.
absolutely, how he carried his teams is truly unique in the history of football

yeah, he "only" needed a stacked team (barthez, blanc, desailly, thuram, lizarazu, deschamps, vieira, djorkaeff, henry, trezeguet...) to do so. and let's not forget the goal of the century that maradona scored just 5 minutes later.
i'm obviously just half serious, neither do i want to defend maradona's hand goal, nor do i want to diminish zidanes outstanding talent that even outshone such a great team. zidane is obviously a very valid pick, i just personally rate maradona's accomplishments / skill / impact higher...
