Mallorca will be playing away against Recreativo tomorrow. Recreativo is leading the table in Segunda, with a 5 point lead over the 2nd placed (Murcia). So this is obviously going to be a very hard game for Mallorca, because they'll be facing a team that is in great form. We have been progressing over the last few weeks, but we're going to need to perform better if we want to get a good result.
That being said, it's quite surprising to see Recre up there after 10 games. The team is expected to finish in the lower end of the top half of the table... just reaching the promotion playoffs would mean the season has been great for them. So I don't think they'll manage to hold this first position up until the end of the season, but right now they are in great form and very difficult to play against.
Half a season later they are indeed dropping positions in the table. After spending the fwhole first half of the season in direct promotion spots, they are now 5th, in the playoff zone. This is a very important game for Mallorca, since both teams want to fight for promotion. Hopefully we carry on with our good performances and win a third consecutive game for the first time this season!
As a side note, I just realized I didn't give any background about Recre, so I'll just give some now:
Recreativo, founded in 1889, is the oldest football club in Spain, and because of this it is nicknamed "El Decano" (the dean). They've spent most of their history shifting between the 2nd and 3rd levels, although they managed to play a few years in top flight (mostly during the previous decade). They reached the Copa del Rey final once, in 2003, but my Mallorca boys took the trophy
