The dude has had one good season. If you compare his stats to Ronaldo which you are allowed to do since Madrid payed about the same and they are sort of in the same role. He isn't really up to par. I like him too. Make no mistake about that. And he is a proper good player. Just one of those I feel is not reaching their potential for whatever reason.

His teamwork has actually improved quite a bit. This is the main reason why his relationship with the fans has become a lot smoother.
