I'm not arguing that he is way past it, but I think he did what he had to do.

With only 20 seconds remaining and Porto needing a goal to draw, he had to risk it. There's no difference between losing 2-1 or 3-1, but if he managed to santch that ball he could have given his team a last chance to score. It didn't work out, but if he had stayed in goal then the opposition would have just held it for the remaining 20 second and won the game.

Always been. But he has played for the most expensive team on earth in his whole career.

He has been inconsistent afaik. Decent to good performances for the most part, but some awful blunders aswell.

I've barely watched Porto this season though; I'm struggling to find time to watch games from the bigger leagues, so I can't really watch the portuguese Liga at all (usually I at least watch the games where the big 3 play each other).

I've watched a fair few whenever they get broadcasted here and it is indeed like you say, can still pull off great saves but has the occasional terrible blunder aswell. Kind of reminds me like Ter Stegen

Or if Simon Mignolet was a bit better at saving shots and made slightly fewer blunders?

Dreadful player.

But the real disgrace is how he was treated by his former club.

This, really should have been able to finish his career at Real.
