it's funny that you got triggered by the eagle gestures but not by the serbian nationalist fans that don't recognise kosovo's independence and were booing them all game as well as provoking and even threatening them on social media.
was it a smart move of the players to retaliate like that, further fueling the conflict? certainly not. should they have been above it and let their goals speak for themselves? sure. however, are their emotions and gestures understandable? absolutely.

also, it's hilariously ironic that you complain about a lack of identification, while you yourself were 'born and raised in switzerland' but always root for italy. so when you say 'and i was born and raised in switzerland' that doesn't really illustrate what you were hoping for, but rather your own hypocrisy...

Kosovo is an artificial region created in the 1974 constitution of SFR Yugoslavia to reduce Serbian influence within the federation. No doubt that Milosevic and Mladic were massive pieces of shit, very much responsible of the wars and massacres that happened in the balkans, but Kosovo was unfairly snatched from the Serbs, similarly to how Crimea was taken from the Russians by a unilateral decision from the USSR. The independence referendum of Kosovo was an absolute travesty, and it's disgusting how many western nations have validated it solely because of their own interests. People there are either Serbian or Albanian anyway, the nation of Kosovo is just made up bogus. But it's easier to just accept biased propaganda based on our own national interests without looking into historical facts...
