There are many reasons why that would have helped:

1. He had more impact on the game in the ~30 minutes he played than Isco or Kroos.
2. His creativity on the field would have helped alot.

You always need a player like Kroos on the pitch. His role isn't as visible as that of James, but he's a really vital player.

One of those guys I'd have on the field for 90 minutes each game.

Only player I'd take is Isco, he's nice. Oh and varane.
