Yeah, but there's so much more to managing than tactical knowledge. He needs to be able to read the game whle under pressure, know how to motivate his players, make his tactics understandable to them, earn their respect, organize training sessions properly, display confidence, adapt to new enviroments, etc.

You can be the Sun Tzu of football tactics but still be a bad manager if you don't get the other stuff right.

tbf he picked a terrible club to start his carreer and it's hard to judge a rookie's potential when in such an unstable situation, but he's showing many weaknesses that he's going to have to get rid off if he wants to have a succesful carreer.

plus the cultural and linguistic differences that he might have underestimated, i bet he can barely communicate properly with most of the players

he should have coached some 2nd or 3rd division team in england for starters

well, aside from the fact that this happened mostly because of nevilles connection to this owner guy....a wise man would choose the mk dons job ^^

sure a job in the primera is tempting, but the way it goes now it will backfire on neville
if he should be fired some time in the near future he will have to work up his way from lower teams anyway

its not easy to wipe away that first, bad impression and he will surely not jump right to the next first league job (in case he can not turn this around of course)

Gary Neville is such a joke.

He came to Valencia like he is Guardiola or something great and the only he doing is the ridiculous... :/

But he definitely has the knowledge to become one, that's something that he has shown alot during his pundit days.

I'm sorry to say this - and AGAIN need to say that I do not hold any grudges or prejudices against English people in general - but this is really far from the truth.
Compared to other English pundits he might have been above average or even good. Compared to pundits in Spain or other countries currently ranking above England in overall match and tactical quality, not so much.

This article sums up many problems really nice, including a short excursion to why Neville should never manage a team outside of England :)

I'm suprised it took them so long...

But sacking him now is so weird... there was an international game break and they waite until 3 days before their next game to sack him... seriously, the guys running this club  :wallbash:

Pako Ayestarán will be Valencia's coach auntil june. He's a FM backroom staff legend, but idk how he'll do as a manager (he always had the pysical trainer role).
