imo insufficient, he was rather bad for a good part of the season
i think gladbach can get a better player

midfield
also seems to have a serious pricetag, city etc are onto him for like 30 mio xd

I see, don't know where Kruse played for Gladbach.

There are plenty of your strikers around tho, perhaps a belgian league striker would benefit the combination with Hazard.

What about this Firmino guy? Or is he too midfield minded

interesting idea. but he's clearly a midfielder, albeit quite deadly in front of goal. would be a waste as a pure striker imo but the bigger problem here is that should hoffenheim decide to sell him, he might be too expensive for gladbach since there seem to be some english clubs quite interested in him...

What position did Kruse play exactly? Did he play on the right or more as a striker or false 9?

definitely striker, but very flexible
wouldnt say false 9 (dont like that term btw xd)
both he and his partner raffael took turns in dropping back
most people would say he is a playing striker

thats what i saw at least, maybe someone else watched them more and can help out

well from a strictly line-up point of view i'd say he mostly played as centre forward. but the way he plays (he works a lot, is heavily involved in the build up play, changes position with wingers even and assists a lot) is more that of a secondary striker imo. that's why i think a pure poacher kind of centre forward wouldn't be ideal to replace him. but who's to say gladbach won't change the way they play up front? they still have raffael who i rate higher anyway and maybe a real striker would benefit them...

i don't think kruse was that good anyway and i was surprised wolfsburg signed him because THEY definitely have the money to do better...

I see, thanks for clearing that up.

Wolfsburg seem to have a nack of picking up weird strikers, likes of Bendtner..

Oh yeah totally forgot about Raffael.

Hopefully Hazard will start more and more games and produces more assists/goals

agreed on the wolfsburg part since they do need a poacher kind of guy (though dost is doing fine), but you really rate raffael?
season finish was impressive, the rest was more meh, but maybe thats just me

really? i mean you certainly need a new striker but i'd rate drmic over him tbh. or maybe one of the belgian league guys there were rumours about (was it mitrovic?) - but with them there's always the danger of physical and tactical deficits...

as long as you don't buy okazaki (i think he'd be a great replacement for kruse actually but we need him too much)...

i'm just not quite sold on mehmedi's class. he has undeniable potential for sure but at least at freiburg he didn't show it enough imo. a player like him should have stood out there...

he cant replace Kruse but he seems to be that kind of player that can grow under Favre.

a friend of mine keeps telling evreyone that we need to buy Okazaki, its like a running gag :)
he would indeed be a great replacement :P . dont think it will happen though...
my 1st choice is Volland, but we would still lack some heading qaulity in the box.
