merte played brilliantly lol. as did gabriel.

Mill sees the game differently.

For instance on Schwesteiger chance, gabriel leaves position (?!?) goes up front between 3 opposition players to try only Mill knows what. Merte gets out of position to try to cover the gap gabriel created and he creates himself a gap in which schweini 1v1 with cech.

I know mill blames merte for that, ergo the "weak" mertesucker. But we all know it's gabriel at fault here.

i'm not exactly a fan of merte as a player but he's the one who keeps arsenal's sh*t together in the backline and he had some great blocks and challenges today, no clue what game you are watching. gabriel on the other hand makes so many mistakes - not only in positioning but also simple passes straight to the opponent or taking great risks. sure, he's young and will still learn but how you rate him over merte is beyond me...

gabriel cleared up from the blocks and tackles, loose balls that merte missed. And seeing as man utd had 70% possession in the 2nd half and were reduced to petty attempts outside of the area.

i think that shows a good defensive performance. utd hardly used any with either, it was definitely merte running the show. and cech made some top saves.
