what about the 12/13 cl? We played that perfect and everyone gives us shit, well tbh just on jsp everyone else gives Chelsea the credit they deserve.
Right now sure they are playing it better, but few years ago we did as good as they did or possibly even better.

I'm assuming you mean 11/12, since in 12/13 you got raped in the group stages... now let's compare some stats:

Bayern only had 2 shots on target more than Atlético tonight, while Chelsea had 5 less than Barça in the 1st leg of semis, 2 less than Barça in the 2nd leg, and 4 less than Bayern in the final.
Bayern and Atlético had the same amount of cornerkicks tonight, while Chelsea had 7 less than Barça in the 1st leg of semis, 9 less than Barça in the 2nd leg, and 19 less than Bayern in the final.
Bayern commited 5 more fouls than Atlético tonight (dispite Atlético playing the defensive role and recovering far more balls), while Chelsea had 3 less than Barça in the 1st leg of semis, 2 more than Barça in the 2nd leg, and 12 more than Bayern in the final.

Can't argue with that. Atlético concedes less shots on target, less corner kicks and is able to recover the ball without fouling, making their defending much more efficient than Chelsea's during the 2011-12 CL season. Just look at how Bayern ended up making more fouls than them dispite having to recover the ball a lot less...

Yeah my bad... Obviously I mean 11/12, first time I've ever made that mistake. We will see if atletico will win it this year, but you can't say chelsea did worse than them, if anything they did better because they actually won it. All these stats you are showing doesn't mean shit. Look at the possession atletico was down, 80-20?none of these shots/corners/fouls mean anything.
Also this bayern team is pretty fking pathetic... And they played barca while messi/neymar are half asleep, and barca usually has bad def. so if messi/neymar isn't sleeping they are fked

while you sure make a lot of valid points here and i absolutely agree that atlético's style of defending has much more skill and tactic involved than chelsea's, i would not overrate the number of CALLED fouls and cards given from yesterday's match. that had much to do with a very inconsistant ref when it came to calls and individual punishment - and the usual acting performance you get when playing in madrid. and let's not forget the different nature of "fouls" that occur when teams with completely different playstyles (one possession and passing oriented, the other one pressing and counter attacking) are involved...
