It is the preseason. The whole reason you go to preseason is to be fit by the start of the season. How are you all so daft to not understand this? Being transferred into a club and how much you get paid a week has nothing to do with motivation to become fit. Van Gaal has a specific way he wants his outside backs to play, that is why he is playing ashley young at outside back. I can guarantee you will see valencia at outside back as well this season. In the formation he plays, the outside backs have to be the most fit players. Shaw currently cannot live to the expectation so he will require personal training so that he is by the start of the season.

Shaw is taking a specific training course on his own, whilst the rest of the team train together. I know pre-season is to improve fitness, but Shaw's must have been exceptionally bad if Van Gaal felt the need to isolate him.

Ugh...you kids are so dumb. Looking way too far into it. Not fit therefore van gaal is putting him through his paces again and again. It's a form of managing. Like Martin said, shaw probably thought that he made it and could slack off. Well he's found out otherwise.

E: I like the third kits a bunch. And I can't wait to watch this game. I wish el Dave was playing. I wasn't able to make the trek to DC to watch the game bc of work and I'm getting ready to go on holiday next week and wasn't allowed to take anymore time off these next few months
