They got 1 points out of the first 8-9 games.

They were 12 points away from avoiding relegation and now they've cut down the distance by half. They've improved after they changed that manager... if they keep up like this I think they'll avoid going down.

The main problem they've been having this season is that 15 of the players they had last season are gone (either promoted, sold or on loan) and they've had a hard time buidling a new team. Also, the defense has been a mess, especially before they changed manager.

Zark, you will be the happiest man alive next year. What I predicted happened. Samuel Eto'o said he wanted to go back to Mallorca next year. It has been speculated a few times but now there is an actual quote of him announcing his wish to return. I hope he goes and scores a shitton of goals.

Yeah I heard that too B)

He has claimed a bunch of times before that that he wants to retire playing for Mallorca, so we're all really happy about that and hope it does happen at some point.

afaik he didn't say he was coming back next year though. What he did say was that his contract is ending and that his son is telling him to take the chance and go back now rather than waiting 2 more years or so.

His plan was to play at the highest football level possible for a bit longer before returing to Mallorca, but now he seems to be considering moving back next year... and that... would be amazing!

Apparently he was also asked which of the 3 title candidates in La Liga he liked the most... he replied "I'm only following my Mallorca".

Betis has sacked Pepe Mel, and Juan Carlos Garrido will take over.

Dispite having achieved only 2 out of the last 24 points, having lost the derby against Sevilla by 4-0 and being last placed in La Liga, this is a pretty big surprise. Betis fans love Mel (infact there has been a huge uproar this afternoon, with the ultras trying to barge into the stadium), and the team wasn't paying that bad (they have been very unlucky though... this weekend they played well against Rayo and were winning until they conceded the draw in the 93rd minute).

Betis is regarded in Spain as a fun/nice team, so I wish them the best... but it's a bit dissapointing to see a nice guy like Mel being replaced by Garrido. Let's see what he can do... the squad is good enough for a mid table finish, although that might be a bit too much considering their current situation and the fact they are also playing EL.

btw they've already sacked him

They should have never sacked Mel, at least with him they were unlucky to lose, with Garrido they were plain horrid.

It was a good farewill tho, they celebrated the 3,5 seasons of succes we had with champagne, and he might possibly get a statue in front of the stadium.

He brought us to the title in the second division, and broke records with OHL the next 2 seasons by not being in any relegation trouble (even going to place 3 at one point)

So he deserves a farewill with respect, and that's what he's getting.
