No, no, i still think ramos is vastly overrated, but he is the best player in madrid defense (carjaval was/is complete and utter shit- stupid tackles, shit defending, meh reactions. Pepe is past it, varane dropped form considerably since mou left, marcelo is class in attack and absolute shit defensively). Sergio is the best option you got back there. Its only normal he earns decent which is ~ 7-8 mios per year. But yet again pique (largely superior in all aspects to ramos this season) earns 5.8 so i dunno really.

As for the mediocre part i still think that. For the wc part he was shittier than pique (if such a thing is possible).

I don't think Pepe is past it at all, personally I think he's still better defense-wise than Ramos, especially now that he's a lot less reckless. I'm looking forward to see what Benítez can do with Varane... I think it's more of a matter of lack of playtime than form drop.

Dunno why zark defends florentino so passionately, he is the type of guy who sold higuain (a good striker) simply because it wasn't one of his purchases. He sold Di Maria for the same bullshit he is arguing with ramos, over 1-2 mios a year. He is said to have had mixed feelings about Cristiano madrid move aswell. He hates the players who have powers in the dressing room and acts dictatorial at times.

Dunno how you could support such a guy, i personally don't hate him, it greatly amuses me.

Agreed. Varane hasn't been given enough play time. Pepe is still rock solid and he hasn't done half of the shit he had done while under Mou. (reckless tackles, fouls, just bad things in general)
I think I read somewhere that Pepe had commited the least fouls in La Liga last season, or something like that, not sure.
