2nd half of the season arsenal has been great. unfortunately must say they clearly deserve the 2nd place.

There's 0 difference between 2nd and 3rd apart from bragging rights. Arsenal players on twitter acting like they've won the league because they are 2nd. Fans celebrating totteringham's day - belittling themselves by even comparing themselves to Spurs. A shift in mentality needs to be enforced, and I have a feeling that Wenger won't be able to do it.

although i'm not a fan of wenger at all i don't think a shift of "mentality" alone will make them serious title contenders. the odd outstanding season might give teams like arsenal or liverpool a long shot but generally speaking it's the money difference between them and chelsea / city / united that makes the difference. add to this that chelsea has one of the best managers (if not the best) in club football and there you go...

that being said, i DO think a new manager is needed and in this regard a respectable 2nd place this season might actually be detrimental to arsenal in the long run as it strengthens wenger's position...

I didn't say that a shift in mentality alone would make them serious title contenders. It won't. But it is necessary for a title challenge, so even if they bring in a few great players I think they'd need a new manager. I agree on your last point, it is detrimental in the long run. My roommate who is a very bright Arsenal fan wanted them to finish 5th last year to provide the driving force for change - in the form of a new manager and increased spending.

if someone would have said we would finish second mid season I would have signed for it. We are looking very solid towards next season as long as we remain injury free.
