The investigation into the transfer of Neymar to Barcelona has been held up after Fifa denied access to documents needed for the case to continue.

Spanish judge Pablo Ruz has requested a number of documents and paperwork surrounding the transfer of the 22-year-old from Santos to Barca, which included documentation from Fifa as well as Neymar's contract with N&N (the player's father's company), Santos' contract and paperwork and independent information from finance company Deloitte.

However, the investigation has been delayed following Fifa's decision to withhold the information as they say it is confidential and should be retrieved through the Swiss authority.

Ruz will send the Swiss Courts a letter of request asking for judicial assistance to allow access to the documents, which is expected to be a formality.

Neymar is currently making his return from an ankle injury he suffered against Getafe in the Copa del Rey in January.


I wonder what Fifa is hiding from the world? Is this Neymar deal bigger than just Barcelona? Is it possible for a Spanish judge to order Barcelona to not allow Neymar to play in all competitions except the World Cup? Where is Cain when you need him?

I really don't know how the legal stuff works, but FIFA inisists that they can't give the documents if it's not through a swiss authority. The judge hasn't complained about this, so it might be true/reasonable, idk.

And no, I don't think any judge can stop Neymar from playing. It's not relevant for the spanish justics where Neymar plays, what matters is the money:

Did Rosell pay hidden amounts?
Is the money that was destined to Neymar's dad and foundation, actually just a way of hiding an extra salary that wouldn't have as many taxes as his official wage?
