is there a site that gives a good overview of the full group standings including how many minus points each team has as a result of being carded?

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/world-cup-2018/fairnesstabelle/pokalwettbewerb/WM18/plus/0?saison_id=2017

not standings but fair play points. i mean they are useless overall, you can check if two teams are in danger of finishing with same points, same goal difference & a tie in their h2h. like spain/portugal

really think so? imo they were solid and scored nice goals

a good team will certainly stop them, but they are doing better than expected

thanks. Lemme just ask one thing to make sure I read that chart correct and understand the system. Portugal should feel pressure to aggressive on offense for 2 reasons:

1) They are losing the fairplay tiebreaker to Spain, so their chance to win the group is to have a better goal differential
2) They don't have as much to lose by being aggressive, since a 1-1 draw against Iran is no worse than a 1-0 win. Both results mean they finish 2nd in the group.

The above is based on the assumption that Spain wins their match (which Portugal will be factoring into their strategy)

i dont think any team is seriously looking at that fair play shit tbh. they are playing the group russia/uruguay anyway, doubt they care very much who they play in the end.

yes in theory, as of now portugal has to get a "better result/higher win" against iran compared to spain vs. maracco (1-1 > 0-0, 2-1 > 1-0). but that also depends what spain/portugal does in terms of yellow and red cards in their last matches :D
