Very slow and boring indeed. The games feel like amateur football. And no, don't expect any change any time soon.

The problem is that women, even the pro athletes, generally lack the stamina to compete at a top level for 90 minutes. If games were 70-80 minutes long, the quality of football they'd be able to produce would probably be better and closer to men's standard (assuming the coaching was on the same level). I've met girls with insane skills when they're free styling, but they play like sloths when it comes to games.

I'm all in for promoting women's sport and I'm happy that this WC is getting more coverage than in previous years, but it's silly to pretend this is going to be anywhere near the level of football we see in the men's WC.

I disagree. The main problem is there isn't enough of an incentive for a talented female footballer to become a professional when they can only make a living from it if they reach the very top. Many of the women playing in the world cup won't even be full time footballers so their technical level, as well as their stamina, won't be good enough.

If attendances and viewership increases massively in the women's game there will be a large increase in quality, I guarantee that.

Well, I said assuming the coaching was on the same level. I agree that their technical level would theoretically be on par with their male counterparts (more or less, as shots would probably be worse in any case), and so would their tactical execution of the game... but their stamina would never be on the same level. Top level performances require a shit ton of stamina if you want to keep it up for 90 minutes... and this is why I think women's football would be better off with the games lasting 70-80 minutes, similarly to how tennis games are limited to 3 sets... when they had 5 set games in the 80s and 90s, the quality of tennis dropped significantly.

I'm not saying stamina isn't an issue but that isn't what the main criticism of women's football is. It's the technical level. We can accept them not being able to kick the ball as hard or run as fast.

Football has always traditionally been more of physical game just like rugby hence little popularity between women in the past, but now since the massive money injection into the game it's unnaturally pushed in the name of equality.

before talking about how much stamina a tactical approach will cost, i would rather work on the basics
ball control, head up, make a pass, repeat

god, that germany-china game was bad which made it almost fun to watch
