Arguments I predict will be used against it are:
It's a gateway to other decision challenges which are far more impactful on results and occur more regularly than goal line decisions.
Why should goal line reviews be given the green light and not penalty reviews / offside goal reviews which decide more outcomes?
It's a slippery slope and just an appeasement for fans, it's a safe starting point because it happens so rarely, but, is it a starting point? and what does it lead to?
I'm not arguing against goal line technology, I like it and think it can be done quicker than a referee video review of an offside or penalty decision, but think about your own team you support, how many goals were incorrectly given against you from shots that didn't cross the line in the last 10 years? now how many offside or penalty decisions cost you points? how many league championships and tournaments were altered by goal line decisions compared to off sides/penalties? If the aim is to correct results, is this the best way to start? is it a 'start' that will evolve? when you say goal-line 'technology', will this technology or review system be applicable to offsides? and will this then descend into a interrupted sport with less flow?
If thats the slippery slope then sign me up for diving down the hill headfirst
i do think egregious offsides goals should be overturnable.
