You're doing it wrong, what I've been reading from Cristiano haters is:
"It was really sad to see Cristiano trying to steal the show. Since he couldn't play, he kept clowning in the sideline, so he could still be the star. His ego is so big that he didn't mind putting his team at risk by taking authority from the manager and giving his own instructions, as if he was the boss" ffs
truth is most likely - as it is so often - somewhere in the middle. i don't believe he had the intention of "stealing the show" to "still be the star". however, his ego most certainly is huge and i'm sure he would have acted the same if portugal had found themselves in a situation where it would have confused and irritated his teammates rather than inspired and pushed them (like in this case)...
i think i've been pretty consistent about cronaldo, saying that i dislike his arrogance and selfishness on the pitch while stating that he is a class act off the pitch (huge ego still obviously but most certainly a nicer person than messi for example) - and this final hasn't changed my mind. while i'm almost certain his shenanigans could have massively backfired if for example portugal had been trailing and in need of clear instructions and a change of their gameplan, in this situation it certainly helped his teammate and i truly believe they have been inspired by the genuine passion their captain has for the game and his almost fanatic desire to succeed no matter what...
