I think it's how the quality teams were distributed. There's no real group of death and there haven't been many instances of good team against good team.

I think everyone is reading into the defensive schemes of teams too much and over analyzing group play. 24 teams made the group stage somewhat less important with only 8 teams being eliminated. They should have just gone the full distance and made it 32 teams.

Round of 16 will be good.

Another thing to note is now that we have all of these extra games, when we finally get down to a proper tournament of 16, the pitches are starting to look awful.
