The question is... How can he get away from jail time?

The law is clear... above .08 it carries a MINIMUM SENTENCE of 61 days, and a MAXIMUM of 301 days. So even if they gave him the minimum sentence, he would still get 2 months in jail. Could get out sooner for good behavior obviously. Maybe half or 1/3 of the time. So we are looking at least 20 days in jail!

My best guess is he was EASILY over .08. Blood work was done at the hospital for sure and that is clear all evidence required to find him guilty beyond probable cause.

I know.. its south america, Chile the country where the player is from and they all probably love him, but still... I don't see how anyone could get away from this specially since its making big news and all. In the middle of the international competition.

True and a lot of places if it's your first crime and is not a violent crime + no victims, you can get probationary period or house arrest.

The same reason why Messi didn't go to jail.

I still want him at Arsenal.

Should be easy enough now. I'm sure that van Gaal crossed him of his list first thing yesterday morning.

Simply by faking crying like a woman.

If he was over 0.8 he should be thrown in jail. Not for 15 years but half a year minimum.

He could have killed someone. This makes it kinda of a big fuss.

Right, if you fail to see the difference between the 2 crimes, you might be a bit more stupid than i thought.

very strange. not only was he pretty f*cking drunk (reports say anywhere between .12 and .15 % - so "two drinks" my ass), he also insulted / threatened the police officer arresting him...

how can he get away with a slap on the wrist like that and not even withdraw from the tournament? that is pretty shady imo...

Those two tend to follow up on eachother.

If this had been Neymar, it would have been the same outcome. He would not have been punished by the coach because of his importance.

This, would expect the same if it were for example Messi for Argentina or Ronaldo for Portugal.
