That may well be the case, but they get paid significantly less and therefore have less chance of making a career out of it. Most have a second job. So there's a multitude of intangible factors that play a role...would you perform as well in the same job whilst on a pittance and working other jobs, as opposed to someone who makes a comfortable living out of it?
I was just addressing Irvine's point about referee training in general, without relating it to the mistakes in this game. I guess you could say the same to Irvine - that referee training didn't play a role in this case.
