Advocaat has actually quite a name on an international level, he has coached many clubs and national teams all around the world. He has never been amazingly succesful, but he does have tons of experience.
His most succesful spells were at PSV, Rangers and Zenit (with whom he won the EL and UEFA Supercup in 2008; I'm sure you remember Arshavin having that great year).
He also was manager of Oranje with them he reached semis on EK 2004 (that infamous semi final vs Portugal), Belgium (where he was doing quite well but had some problems with people internally, maybe Mill knows more about this) and Russia where he took over from Hiddink, dont really know how that went.
