Yes, they'll appeal.
Yes, it's possible to overturn a ref's decision in the CL.
No, it won't happen.

It's practically impossible to overthrow that decision, since Ibra actually accepted the red card at the moment it was pulled. If Ibra made a whole scene there, it would be different.
Even before the replays, i knew it was at most a yellow, red was kind of shocking.
But yeah, there is no way to overthrow that decision due to Ibra accepting it right away.
Case closed, he should give his roundbonus to Silva. :)

Has nothing to do with that at all, red and yellow cards almost never get appealed in the champions league

what?
because there is no outcome to the player itself doesn't mean it never gets appealed.
decisions gets appealed behind the curtains all the time. mostly the referee's are involved, not the players.
it's not about getting Ibra back in the next round, it's about tightening the referee circuit to avoid clear upsetting decisions.
i'm pretty sure that Kuipers is being judged right now at the board. Red for Ibra, yellow for Costa?
Kuipers won't whistle this CL-season anymore.

Rules state that once a card has been given, they can't be overruled in most of the cases. This is one of those cases where it will not be overruled.

i'm not sure whether i made the point of decisions being overruled (like dismissing the red card and pardoning Ibra and let him take part of the next round anyways) or overthrow, i clearly wrote overthrow, in the meaning of dismissing Kuipers from the campaign.
Ibra accepting his fate actually just confirms the whole ideology behind "humans make mistakes". Ibra won't play next game, the referee will not be punished for this sole ideology. Even when in the replays it's very clear, they can't use it as evidence to overrule/overthrow the decisions, since it's completely against the spirit/ideology.
but Kuipers will most likely be in bad light for some time.
that's about all what i tried to say, not saying to overRULE the decision or what so ever.

So you are saying if the player complains about the red card he has more chance of being overruled? That's stupid. Ibra did the right thing going of the pitch as soon as possible and that will help in his case vs the card.
As for Kuipers it's obvious he wont ref a game for a long time.
