Chelsea should get massive problems for this to happen so I say unlikely too. But you never know. Now they are winning important games and Chelsea sure as hell will leave some points. If van Gaal actually manages to make his team play better football too I think they could get far.
Well, I think Man Utd has a decent chance because they won't be playing european competitions (unlike City and Chelsea), and this could be decisive in the second half of the competitions, when every match will require solid performances.
Also, I think that Diego Costa will lose his form at some points due to injuries. He has always had injury problems in every club he has played for, and I'm sure he will struggle with them at Chelsea aswell.
And Man Utd is winning games while playing horribly... this can lead to 2 things: either their luck runs out and they begin to drop points, or they become more solid in their play (as a consequence of greater confidence in themselves, less pressure, etc as they win more and more games). With a good manager like Van Gaal in charge, the signings adapting to the team and the unexplainable luck big clubs tend to have, I think the latter option is more likely to happen.
I don't think it will be enough though, but it should at least lead to a much tighter title race than what most people think imo.
