the management is an utter joke

they failed to rebuy players and fit them in when the old legends got old and had them play until the age of 40 in giggs case
with the magic of sir alex gone it started to crumble

reminds me kind of milan......they did nothing until all those carrying the team retired
now they are a a mediocre team in a crap league

united wont fall that far, but they will need at least this season to turn things around for the future

I sort of agree - home grown players like Welbz or T-Clev gone, half a new team is bought, playing a bizarre 352 formation, Giggs retired from playing.

Yeah, I'm not a fan but I respect that Man Utd era and their whole style with English players, quick buildup and attacking style.

A 25 year spirit forged by SAF was not going to last forever - unfortunately.
Huge clubs like Madrid, Bayern, Milan, Barca, even Scousers, etc., have remade their image at least 2-3 times since SAF took over.
Even United isn't immune to the passage of time.  I personally feel LvG, other than Mourinho, is the best fit to do so for this transition.

Yeah things will change after SAF, players mainly, but teams do have a style of play regardless of manager eg. Swansea, Barca. Even Brendan Rodgers has tried to change back to an attacking style reminiscent of a glory days Liverpool. That's the main thing where Van Gaal doesn't really give a shit. He might start players like Jones and Blackett for now, but if the players are available he would buy cheaper abroad and not stick his neck out for English players like SAF would

I hope this will restore Moyes credibility, he's a good coach but coaching United after SAF is a deathwish, not sure if even Van Gaals ego could manage to do it

Im sad about this too, this is why United was a unique club but there's no SAF anymore at the helm, it wont work again.

I hate everything United-related but I gotta say SAF was a brilliant man.

Sergi and Abelardo also played quite often under LvG.

True. Abelardo was horrible, I never liked that player.

whats this thread all about now.
yea the club bought new players and o/p along the way. but this transition took place when a bunch of players left and retired too. rio vida evra scholes giggsy. thats 5 players gone.
anyhow, lvg has also given the youngsters chance to play like adnan and tyler.
on topic, only with stability, then you can win the toughest league in the world with an above average squad.

Hmm Im thinking more it's the players egos that is the problem. He managed to let a very average dutch squad play very decent football because they believed in the manager and his plan. Im not saying it is the best strategy but for instance, under Guardiola Barca were brilliant, others have tried to copy his style and it just doesnt work.
