I like Gerrard as a player, but this should have come 2 years ago personally... He is going to find it more and more difficult to remain fit as he gets older, and needs to concentrate on prolonging his career.

Gerrard carried the England team in the last 4 years, and was the best player in the qualifiers alongside Rooney. Scholes might have been better but he never brought as much to the national team as Gerrard.
