It's a record since the records began which is like from 55 years ago. There were wc games preceding that time that had more goalkeeper saves, allegedly.

Tim Howard made some good saves, but upon closer inspection, they were all saves you expected him to make. In the end he got beaten by a shot he argueably should have saved. Still USA's best player though.
