Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann delivered a cutting analysis as to why England’s national team is in such a mess after the Euro 2016 defeat to Iceland.
Roy Hodgson’s useless side crashed out of the tournament to a country with a smaller population than Bristol in what will go down as one of the worst performances in history.
Hamann was quick to express his thoughts on what had gone wrong and believes the Premier League has played a huge role in the misleading of England fans.
‘I think what English people believe is the hype about the Premier League,’ he said.

Hamann wasn’t surprise by England’s ineptitude
Richard Scudamore and the Premier League and co. have sold a Skoda as a Lamborghini for the last 15 years.
‘The English Premier League is average.
If you look at Spain, if you look at Germany, if you look at the standard of football, if you look at the quality of football; it’s in a different league to the Premier League.
‘Just because people watch it all over the world, it doesn’t mean it’s the best product.’

Exactly what i've been saying.

The league is dominated by foreign managers and foreign players though. Then you have Rooney trying to reinvent himself as Pirlo and no one blinks twice.

It's still the best league in the world, but it would be naive to think that what is true of the whole is true of the parts.

I disagree. An average team like Napoli or Villareal would literally tear that league apart.

You mean the Villarreal that lost to Liverpool in the Europa League this year? Or the Napoli that failed to beat Chelsea after having won the first leg convincingly a few years back?
I'm all for discussing hypothetical scenarios and tactically they may win a lot of one off games against teams in England, no arguments here....

But nah, Napoli couldn't even win the league last year with Higuain scoring 36 goals and Juventus starting with like 12 points after 12 games.

I rate them, napoli, way above Leicester, so they would walk the Premier League.
As for Villareal, they were in an awful form at the moment, while Liverpool were playing their hearts out. Both teams failed to get anything out of Europa League tho.

What Leicester did is special. It's once in a lifetime, but it's hardly reflective of the league apart from last season.
Do you rate them over Chelsea with Conte, United with Mourinho, or City with Pep? I don't.

Between the amount of money in the league, the amount of talent and the amount of incredible managers... it's definitely the best league but certainly over hyped at the same time
