The FA were allowed to send an 8th team to Europe by chance, since out of all the 54 UEFA members, the EPL was one of the 3 leagues that "won the raffle" and could send their most fair play team to the EL.

Now, since England is sending 8 teams to Europe, the coefficient points their clubs are getting are divided by 8, while the ones Italy will get are divided by 6... this could have a big impact at the end of the season if english teams don't fare well.

Let's not forget that, as things stand now, Italy will finish ahead of England in the coefficient table if they were to get the same amount of points.
