i'm not a schalke fan. actually, i hate the club...
i'm also not a fan of klaas jan huntelaar (mostly because he's a schalke player i guess)...

but a 6 match ban for this seems a little harsh imo:



i mean sure, it's a clear foul and definitely a red card, it was a foul out of pure frustration and yes, he COULD have injured his opponent but i think a three or four match ban would have been sufficient, i have seen so much worse...

6 matches are fine
despicable kick from behind, just look at his face
also he made some gesture towards the ref afterwards

in comparison with others its unfair, there were many getting less for similar offenses

If it was Cristiano Ronaldo I wouldn't be even foul.

Didn't he "show the bird" to the referee and shook his hand ironically, I'm not sure, but this must be the reason for the additional 3 games he is banned.

Huntelaar.... Absolutely worthless in every aspect of the game. Deserved ban imo.

3 or 4 would be a travesty. This is just a despicable act, plain and simple. Him being frustrated or not should make no difference. Especially it should not be a mitigation.

If there ever was a "tackle" that resembles an intent to injure your fellow player, this one right here is just about as bad as it gets.

Headbutt, spitting, biting et cetera result in harsh punishments mainly because they're not a part of the game. This "tackle" right here is not a part of the game. Enjoy the outcome mr. Huntelaar.

Actually I would like to see a similar act on the pitch that was worse than this. Yea of course there are absolutely brutal tackles that broke bones and so on but at least you could make a point that they were going for the ball. That's not the case with this play.

Now that I think back, there's one play that is a close relative to this one. Daniele de Rossi elbowing Brian McBride in the 2006 WCup. 4 international games during the World Cup >>> 6 domestic games.

As far as tackles go, that could have been a lot worse. 3-4 would have been enough for me as well. Stupid tackle.
