The United I grew up with and admired were supposed to win trophies with an average team.

Van Gaal is going to run this club into the ground with stupid overspending and not adhering to Man Utd's style of play (as of yet).

Van Gaal doesn't care about SAF's legacy and club traditions whereas Moyes did.

I sort of agree - home grown players like Welbz or T-Clev gone, half a new team is bought, playing a bizarre 352 formation, Giggs retired from playing.

A 25 year spirit forged by SAF was not going to last forever - unfortunately.
Huge clubs like Madrid, Bayern, Milan, Barca, even Scousers, etc., have remade their image at least 2-3 times since SAF took over.
Even United isn't immune to the passage of time. I personally feel LvG, other than Mourinho, is the best fit to do so for this transition.

When he was on Barça we only had one player from Catalunya: Guardiola, and one spanish: Luis Enrique. They know that it must not happen again.

Frank and Ronald De Boer, Hesp, Reiziger, Bogarde, Cocu, Kluivert and Zenden, most of the games 7/8 of them where on the 11-line up.

What a shame. Nice to be on another era. On the other hand, he discovered Xavi, Puyol and Victor Valdés.

Sergi and Abelardo also played quite often under LvG.
